TITLE: Road Maintenance Worker
REPORTS TO: Road Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: Non-exempt position responsible for performing a variety of skilled and unskilled manual labor tasks, using a variety of hand and power tools, small machines, and light to heavy equipment in the repair and maintenance of Township roads. Is also responsible for performing general maintenance on vehicles and equipment. The employee will have contact with the general public and representatives of private/public entities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Operates, as assigned, light to heavy equipment, such as front-end loader, backhoe, mini hoe, zero turn riding mower, zero turn skid loader, boom mower, single-axle dump truck, and other equipment in the repair and maintenance work for Township roads.
• Performs a variety of road maintenance activities such as loading/unloading dirt; spreading gravel, stone, and mix; raking and/or rolling and establishing level and/or grade; cutting berm; cutting brush; backfilling; removing and disposing of debris from roadways such as tree limbs and animal remains; painting, and related activities.
• Ability to drive and/or operate all vehicles and equipment.
Licensing & Regulation: Must hold a valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL). CDL Class A with air brakes designation is preferred. Class B is initially acceptable with the ability to get Class A within 6 months of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee may perform moderate to heavy work, which requires lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, climb, twist, balance, push, pull, stand, kneel, crawl, and lift using all major muscle groups.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed outdoors with exposure to noise, extremes in outdoor temperatures, various weather conditions, dirt, grease, oil, vibration, electrical/mechanical hazards, and dust. Employee will be required to wear safety gear when and where required by regulations and department policies.
