The Township operates under the laws of the State of Ohio as Home-Rule Township, governed by the township resolution. Violet Township is governed with an elected Board of Trustees form of government; and an elected Fiscal Officer. These positions are non-partisan positions.

The Wigwam is a 63-acre historic retreat that is currently being renovated for community purposes. The complex will house the Violet Township Administrative Offices, and the 303-seat theater and 400-seat banquet hall will be rented for community use and private events. Long-range plans include developing 10 acres on the North side of the property for commercial use, and preserving 26 acres of wooded area along SR 204.
