What is a JEDD you ask?
A joint economic development district (JEDD) is an agreement between a township and a city (or multiple cities) established by Ohio Revised Code, section 715.70 through 715.72. A JEDD contract between the parties provides townships with certain city authorities such as setting speed limits, the ability to levy an income tax and protection from annexation. A JEDD is meant to create a partnership between local jurisdictions and provide economic development to the parties.
